Easter Week (Semana Santa) is one of the most cultural and economic periods of the year in Spain, and in 2026 it once again proved its significance across the Costa del Sol taking place from the 29th of March to the 5th of April 2026, the celebrations transformed cities like Málaga, Marbella and surrounding coastal towns into vibrant centres of tradition, attracting both national and international visitors.

A key cultural & Tourism Attraction

Semana Santa in Málaga is internationally recognised and draws thousand of visitors annually, thanks to its unique blend of religious devotion, art, music and large-scale processions.

Throughout the week more than 40 brotherhoods (cofradías) parade through the streets, creating a powerful atmosphere. This strong cultural identity continues to position the Costa del Sol as one of Spain’s top Easter destinations.

Tourism Performance in 2026:

During peak days (Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday), occupancy climbed to over 85% Some destinations such as Benalmádena and Torremolinos recorded even higher occupancy, reaching between 85-90% What makes these figures particularly interesting is that they were achieved despite logistical challenges, including disruptions to the high-speed rail connections earlier in the year.

According to recent reports, the week was largely marked by sunny skies and warm temperatures often reaching around 25°C, which created ideal conditions for outdoor events and processions
